If you want to become a network marketing leader, I am going to show you exactly how to do that in this article. There are things you can do starting today to set yourself on the path. Enjoy these steps and go forward in becoming the next success story in your network marketing company.
The question is, what is a leader? Google defines a leader as the person who leads or commands a group, organization, or country. Ray Higdon defines them as someone who creates leaders, not followers.
Leaders are someone who strives to get their teammates up on stage. They are someone willing to give credit to others if it helps them in accomplishing their goals of getting teammates transformed into leaders. They only define themselves by the performance of their team, not their own. – Ray Higdon
So lets get right into this one.
What are the steps to becoming a leader?
If you pay attention to the last sentence in the quote by Ray, “Leader only define themselves by the performance of their team” then you should be able to understand why the first step is important.
The first step is to have a powerful vision.
With all things in life, if one wants to accomplish their goals, you should first have a vision of what you want to accomplish. As a leader you should know exactly what you want your team to attain.
Successful leadership training has the ability to translate vision into reality. Network Marketing Leaders know that leaders sustain your business, not followers.
The next step is to apply the proper training.
Motivation and training people will greatly contribute to your success. Even though your compensation plan and products are important, they should not be your first focus. Many new reps come into this industry, wasting time learning things that are not going to propel their business.
If you learn all there is to know about your comp plan and don’t make a sale, then what was the point? The same goes for your products. Network marketing is a people business. We have forgotten how attraction marketing works. You do not pitch your product or opportunity, you simply provide value and see if your services can help.
I went on a small rant there but back to the point. It is important as a leader to create a step-by-step training and a daily routine to share with your teams.
Commit to what duplicates.
Now this first comment shouldn’t but has to be said. Avoid doing anything that you don’t want your team to duplicate. They have put their trust in your ability to help them build and grow. They will find out and it may distract them.
“It’s doesn’t matters what works, it’s only matters what duplicates” — Eric Worre
It has been said that what you can measure, you can improve. Commit to your prospecting numbers. Results are a direct correlation to the amount of value you provide and the number of people you connect with.
Learn to be transparent and talk to your team. Share with them what works and most importantly, what duplicates.
Lastly set high standards and expectations for yourself and your team.
In this step understand that learning should be a never ending activity. Always have time set aside for this. Ask questions of other leaders that you admire.
Most marketers make the mistake of wanting other people to make them rich. They don’t understand that people follow people, value, community, and leadership. They always start with a product or an opportunity instead of providing value.
It is important to respect other leaders’ time and expertise while never asking for favors. It is best to add value and figure out how you can help them grow their business and form a powerful partnerships.
All successful leaders are good at presenting and speaking. The only true way to get better at this is to do it. If you want to get better you have to fail, learn from it, and get better. Remember to share every thing that duplicates with your team.
As you associate yourself with other leaders you will see what they expect of themselves and how it will help you in your business.

P.S. If you’ve been trying to “get your name out there,” publishing content on your website, and doing all the things “they” have told you to do… but you’re still not getting the kind of attention, respect, and income you desire… then you need to drop whatever it is you’re doing right now and read this letter by Ray Higdon from start to finish.
